THEISM AND ATHEISM IN INDIA (SOME RANDOM THOUGHTS)

THEISM AND ATHEISM IN INDIA.
(SOME RANDOM THOUGHTS)
In India even in ancient times atheism was present. The well known name among them was “CHARVAKA” who was living several centuries back.
In one of his works(as quoted by a theist in his work as no original is available) he states the name of several ancient seers who were living earlier than him who have written about atheism and practived them. None of the books written by them are available.
Some of the references are by the round about way. Some of the quotes of Charvaka are quotes found in the books written by those who challenged the views and rebutted the statement of chaarvaka and they are the only ones that are available.
By logical means it is not at all possible to defeat the Atheists.
Most or almost the entire atheists literature were either burnt down or thrown into rivers. Their followers were branded as heretics and excommunicated or eliminated.. Those who associated with the atheists were also excommunicated or eliminated.. So the atheism lost its roots in India.
May be some of the books that were translated into Tibetian or Chineese and may be are still available in the ancient library of their sacred places in Tibet or China.
Even though the Jains and buddhists were of the order of atheists most of their rituals are based upon the hindu practices. They also believe in rebirth and fate etc which does not find a place in pure atheism.
Buddists entirely disappeared from India after the advent of Sankara. May be that they became Hindus. Jainism continued to flourish though with some restraint.
There are still some Jain literature which pokes fun at the Hinuduism and its practices. These are not given prominence by Jains as this may result in the backlash by Hindus against Jains.
They have their own Ramayana which is a clear distortion of Valmiki Ramayana. One book by a Jain monk named “Seethaka agnipravesh”(Seethas entering fire in Hindi language) poking fun at eh ordeal of Seetha of Ramayana written and published some years back had such a backlash against Jains in North India that the book was withdrawn and also a public apology was tendered by Jains.
It appears that the library at the Moodabidri town in the South Kannada district of Karnataka Jain temple has lots of books that pokes fun of Hindus. These books are not allowed to be studied by non Jains nor are they published.
Even now there are many organisations which try to propagaate athesim. They cannnot succeed also the majaority of the people in Indiaespecially Hindus are steeped in the ancient belief and practice of Hindusim.
I was thinking on the following lines:
Supposing all the Hindus become Atheists overnight!!
All the Temple towns will be deserted and those who depend upon the theists and their offerings and on temple and supporting services will be thrown out and become unemployed.
Varanasi, Madura, Badri, Allahabad, Ayodhya, Gaya all the Jyothirlinga, Panchdwarka and all the Dhams etc will become deserted in the north India.
In ths south India,Tirupathi, srisailam, chidambaram. Madurai Rameshwaram srirangam, palani Ayyappans abode,Etc etc becomes deserted as most of the income for the citizens there are only due to the presence of temple. All the literature especially cultural literature and songs and dances Glorifying God will become obsolete.
The educational institutions and other organisations run by the Godmen , Mutts and temples can no longer be able to be run . The major blow will be to all the socalled GODMEN!! Sanyasi's. The resulting unemployed becomes unimaginable in numbers!!
Persons from south will not visit north and the persons from north will not visit south as for most of them the centre of attraction is the temple and so called holy places and holy rivers..
So it is better that we have Gods , Godmen, Holy Places, holy rivers, holy seas etc at they truly give employment and generate employment to literally crores of Indians.
So from the economic point of view at present GOD, Godmen, Sanyasi's Temples Holy places IS NECESSARY for the survival of Hindus in India.

To add further, We forget the bigger picture in these kinds of discussion. We always assume that Human Beings as the defacto standard for all the living beings. If God is true, I don't think this concept should vary among living beings. Moreover, It should also be equally applicable to the entire timeline of human beings evolution NOT specific to this species of human beings. Since the whole language we speak is human, conditioned by the human environment, it is very hard to go above and beyond this nature, and to think objectively.
The question is not even this: Did God create man or Man create God?

The question really is this: Is this useful to human beings in anyways? In this present economy, It can be even modified to: Does it provide job or employment?
