STRICTLY MY PERSONAL VIEW ABOUT ISKON AND HINDUISM

STIRCTLY MY PERSONAL VIEW ABOUT ISKON AND HINUSISM,

yesterday the 4th april 2009 two members of iskon visited our house. this is in continuation of their last months visit.

they do not study the literature of other religions.

I asked them the following questions

!) "Thena vina thrina mapi na chalathi"

2)"Kamanyeaya adhikarasthe maphaleshu kadachana"

The one above implies that the will of God is supreme and without his will not even a blade of grass will move. the second is from Bhjagavath geetha. "Do your duty and leave evrything to the will of God.

If we accept the second one it proves that we are free to do as we desire and leave everything to God. if we take the first one without the Gods will nothing happens.

so shall we say that even the evil action of ours is only due to the will of God? or otherwise, if our action for which we have to take responsibilities then where in the heaven is the first phrase meaning?

The iskon's were more interested in my becoming a member of the elite club for which the donation is rs 55,000/- rs 75000/- and rs 1,25,000/- and nothing more. I asked them whether they study the religious books of othere religions for which they said the ISKON is having a very very big project at Mysore. they are going to construct a very very big temple and conglomerate costing nearly 60 crores of rupees. over an area of nearly 25 acres at Jayanagar.

"Sri Prabhupada " has studied it seems all the other religious books and his books contains the gist of ISKON thought which abutts the other religions, including the mayavada or sankara's Advaitha. and so they dont study other religious books. they only study the books by "Prabhupada and nothing else.

4 days back they was a clash of minority community and majority community near Kyathamaranahalli on the outskirts of Mysore city Karanataka., this was started by minority community. there were two murders and lots of property loss to hindus. for this i asked as to how those who were not responsible for the conflict were the vistims and how they can reconcile to this fact. for this the stock reply was that the result of past "Karma" the people have suffered and the God is sure to punish the evil doers??!!. I asked as to when God is going to punish the evil doers? the stock reply was that "He choses hisown time and place. and this cannot be forecast in advance". they were acting as if they were sitting on the pins. i told them that i am not interested in becoming a elite member but gave some amount towards the midday hot meal scheme. they gave me 4 sweet laddus as prasad of the temple and left.

I also iunderstand that there are not many volunteers at ISKON mysore and almost all the work is done by paid wage earners there are only 14 Brahmacharis and there is scope for adding anothere 100 more..

My feeling is that the Karma theory is the most obnoxious theory of Hinduism. whenever something bad happens "Karam " comes into the fore.

As i have already maintained these theists can never ever defeat an atheist in any logical argument.

So initially itself they want to argue with a person who believe in the Vedas upanishth and purana and ramayana and mahhabharatha. otherwise the athiest is branded as a heretic and no argument takes place. from the behaviour it can be seen as how much of suffereing and pain the atheiss whould have undergone in the past.

we did have reformers like "rajaram mohan roy " and "Dayananda saraswathi" in the north and "Nayana Guru" and "Vallalar" in the south. yet they could not succeed. organisation such as "Arya samaj" also tried. But failed as the basis was the veda and upanished and puranas and ramayana and mahabharatha . here also there was no place for commonsense. just accept what the teacher says without precondition!!

that is all for the present

The most one person who appealed to me till now is UG Krishnamurti. His quotes or teachings if we call it is very simple and profound. No BS or anything like that. He never called himself a guru or allowed anyone to call him the same. At times you might feel his statements are very arrogant but I guess it is more due to the way he stresses his points and his conversations are very casual, not staged or walkways filled with roses or bhajans or photos of his mother or god or anything. He strips all the verbose and makes it very simple and explains in physical and physiological terms.
Please check this out if you are interested in his kind of conversation:

Hats off to UG!!

PS: I had an opportunity to meet him in 2004 in bangalore through my IAS friend (Felix Noronha) but then I didnt know who UG was. Now, I regret not meeting him then.
